sewing the seeds of love

Instead of making a million excuses about my lack of blogging, I'm going to try to get back on track and show you what I've been up to.
I was lucky enough to know a wonderful woman and inspirational fiber artist named Toni who made a huge impression on me and my own creative process before she recently lost her battle with cervical cancer. She encouraged my sewing and was always eager to see my progress.
You might remember a certain 70's romper pattern I thrifted several months back:

It looks bizarre to put on but looked super easy to sew and perfect for sweltering Alabama summer days. So with Toni on my mind, I took to sewing through my grief... AND my joy in having known such a vibrant, stylish, and loving woman.
I made two of these rompers and one I wore for my birthday:

Here's my hubs and I singing karaoke!

And in this pic of my friend and I acting silly you can see the open back.

And finally, one of me and my bestie- love!

I plan on sewing several more of these rompers in different fabrics and wearing them to many summer picnics and cookouts to come!

The romper is adorable, you should make the pants version too :)
